Q. What can I do to prevent Dry Eyes?
A. Dry eye problems can occur as a result of many different factors. Here are a few things that patients can do to minimize the symptoms.
Eliminate as many household allergens as you can.Turn off ceiling fans when possible.Run a humidifier to put moisture back into the air..Add more omega-3 fatty acids or fish oil supplements to your diet.Use lubricating or rewetting eye drops.
Q. At what age should my child have his or her eyes examined?
A. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), infants should have their first comprehensive eye exam at 6 months of age. Children then should receive additional eye exams at 3 years of age, and just before they enter kindergarten or the first grade at about age 5 or 6.
